It is a comprehensive guide to their identification, with simplified descriptions which highlight the differences between each variety.
The images have been painstakingly assembled from a multitude of sources such as auction houses and coin dealers as well as metal detectorists, avoiding where possible those images that are already found on the standard databases such as PAS and EMC.
Clear images with full explanation of differentiating characteristics, making it suitable for beginners and experts alike.
The primary system of identification used is Abramson's Sceatta List numerical system, backed up by Rigold's letter system and the BMC numbers, where possible.
